The Dossier is a very helpful tool for keeping track of potential friends, partners, or enemies you may have. It allows you to see at a glance who a person is and what they want. The Dossier works well with co-workers, but you can also it with other organizations or businesses.
To create a dossier, you need three pieces of information:
- Person, Business, or Organization’s Name
- Relationship – describe the relationship you have with the person. is the person a friend, a partner, a connection, or an enemy?
- Agenda – describe what the person is striving for. Are they striving to take you or your business out? Do they want to strengthen their chances for a promotion?
The best thing to do is to create a folder (physical or digital) and make a separate document for each person you’re interested in focusing on.
